Gravity continues to design sustainable in-store concepts. As in the case of the Adidas Teşvikiye project, Sustainable Experience Zone’s (Adidas Beyoğlu, Adidas Cevahir, Adidas İstinye Park) entire installation’s sustainability rate is also 98%. Adidas, in collaboration with Parley, turns the plastic waste - the most common pollution item - that was collected from the ocean into raw material for its products. To emphasize Adidas’s eco-friendly solution, as Gravity, we designed an in-store concept that shows the story of plastic waste. The four sculptures, “Collect (installation by @merkok)” “Shred” “Melt” & “Yarn”, demonstrate the journey of the plastic waste’s process to become “a part of the Adidas”. To emphasize the importance of this “journey” as Gravity, in collaboration with designers, we designed four sculptures in four glass pedestals. Collect - was made out of used plastic bottles. For the disidentification of the bottles, they were painted with the ‘ocean’ colors. The sculpture represents the plastics from the ocean. Shred - was made by installing polyurethane bubbles into the glass pedestal to represent the shredding process. Melt - was created by the “hot cutting” method. Yarn - was installed by winding the paper rope around the hooks in the pedestal. In this Sustainable Experience Zone, the main materials used were plywood and honeycomb panels. For the painting and printing, non-toxic paints were used. The layout was designed to provide a path, keep the customers in the zone, inform them about pollution, and Adidas’s attitude & solutions to this problem during their exploration of the zone.
